It is great helping people overcome fear. God said "Fear not 365 times in the Bible". It is very important to him to see us Fear-free
I was very scared of Spiders growing up. Eight legs and many eyes and hair....my goodness they were horrifying. Well, a hairy, large, scary looking spider came into my cell. In a cell, there isn't a lot to do. The spider was scary but a relief from the boredom. It was an ideal time to desensitize myself to the fear. Eventually I put a sock on the hand and let him crawl on that. Then let him crawl on the forearm. He wasn't an enemy at all. Eventually I just had to feel what it was like to get bitten by one.
Does it feel like a bee sting? If so, I want nothing to do with them. Well, I pushed down on him and he didn't immediately bite. He struggled a bit and then His fangs opened up. I kid you not, I didn't feel a thing. The only reason I know He bit me was the white bump that formed. A mosquito bite is more noticeable. My fear of Spiders has been completely non-existent since.
Actually, that is an understatement. By encountering the fear, I fell in love with these gentle creatures who serve us, the environment, and are the best insecticide. Some spiders are bad, but there are bad guys in every gender, religion, and race. It is actually less than 1% of spiders that are out to get you or whose venom will do anything more than make you swell a tad.
Some people say that if you put your finger into a spider's web it will attack. Not true! I've done this countless times. I've put my finger in the web and grabbed them without them biting. Now, some will. Absolutely, some will. They do not make up the majority. They are gentle creatures and of all creatures with an exoskeleton, they and honey bees are the best friends of humans and the environment.
The world needs many more spiders. If the number doubled that would be better for the world. It is just we need the right ones. Please don't kill them. By doing so, you are saying that you want more flies and mosquitoes in our world.
