Okay, could you please let me know which of those interpretations has lead a person into a dangerous Doctrine or belief that will offend God?
See, people who have read the Bible in Greek, Aramaic, and Hebrew, say that the King James version has lost a lot of meaning in it's translation as well.
That is why telling someone " just read your Bible , quit asking people all these questions and read the Bible for yourself , all the answers are there" , is not so good instructions to give someone.
People obviously need to turn to sources outside of scripture, because scripture does not alwaye tell us which translations are best, which is parable, symbolic, which is literal, or poetry, which applies to ancient Israelites and not to the Gentiles (a lot of that in the Bible), what something meant in the culture , the proper context, or how that meaning has changed in thousands of years etc.
It would help a person tremendously to know Greek, Aramaic, and Hebrew to better understand scripture, but even that is not enough.
A person can know the language and still greatly Misinterpret what is being said if they do not know the culture of the time. It's like that here in America too. We have words nowadays that didn't mean anything like they meant hundreds of years ago.
A few hundred years ago if you talked about gay people, you were talking about happy people and that was how everybody understood it.
So, the same thing applies to the Aramaic and Hebrew language. It changes with the culture.
All that needs to be taken into account. That is why we have verses that say to be a follower of Jesus you must hate mother and father, brother and sister. Or a verse that says the " one who is born of God does not sin" or "cannot sin."
